Have you ever seen record numbers missing in the list layout? It could happen due to this property glide.itil.assign.number.on.insert not being set to true. By default, auto-numbering updates the number on the record when the form loads. In cases, when this record is not submitted, there appears a gap in numbering. Setting above property to true ensures that numbers are generated just before the record is submitted in the database.
Set the property to true and save the hassles and prevent the confusion in the GlideWorld, where APIs are worried about records going missing.
